Panasonic Corporation which was previously named Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. is a Japanese multinational corporation headquartered in Kadoma, Osaka, Japan. Panasonic main business portfolio comprises of manufacturing electronics and producing products under a variety of names including Panasonic and Technics. Panasonic was founded in 1918 and grew to become the largest Japanese electronics manufacturer. Panasonic was founded by Konosuke Matsushita first selling duplex lamp sockets. In 1927, it produced a bicycle lamp, the first product it marketed under the brand name. Konosuke Matsushita traveled to the US in 1961 to meet with dealers there. Panasonic began producing television sets for the U.S. market and expanded the use of the brand to Europe in 1979. Panasonic has a workforce of 292,250 employees and a total revenue of US$77.2 billion (2009). Panasonic subsideries includes: Panasonic, Technics and Sanyo.
