BlackBerry line of smartphones are developed by Research In Motion Limited (RIM) - the canadian wireless device company, headquartered in Ontario, Canada. Blackberry's RIM was founded in 1984 by Mike Lazaridis who is the current CEO along with Jim Balsillie. Blackberry's RIM had Working Ventures Canadian Fund Inc. leading the first venture with a $5 million (CAD) investment using the proceeds to complete the developement of their 2-way paging system (later used by Ericsson) hardware and software. Blackberry's RIM today has a total worldwide workforce of 12,000 employees with the company's total revenue peaking at US$11.06 billion.
