Seagate is a manufacturer of hard drives and storage solutions. Seagate was founded in 1979 and started with the trading name of Shugart Technologies. Seagate's nominal headquarters is located in the Cayman Islands. Seagate originally started off as a disc drive manufacturer in 1979 when co-founded by Al Shugart, Tom Mitchell, Doug Mahon, Finis Conner and Sayed Iftakher. Seagate secured a contract in the 1980s to be a major OEM supplier of IBM's first personal computer to contain a hard disk - this later fueled Seagate's early growth. Seagate today employs over 54,000 employees and has a Revenue of US$12.708 billion.
