Symantec

Symantec Corporation, the World's largest personal computer security software maker. Symantec was founded in 1982 by Gary Hendrix using a NSF grant, in the begining - Symantec's core interest was artificial intelligence-related projects, including a database program. Symantec was acquired in 1984 by a small company called C&E Software. The merged company retained the name Symantec. Its first product, Q&A, was released in 1985.
