Adobe Systems Incorporated is a computer software firm located in San Jose, California, USA. Adobe mainly focus its attention upon the creation of mutimedia and creativity software suites, with its recent focus towards rich internet application software developement. Adobe started back in December 1982 by John Warnock and Charles Geschke, who both established the company after leaving Xerox to develop and sell the PostScript page description language. Apple Computer then licensed the PostScript for use in its LaserWriter printers which sparked the desktop publishing revolution. Adobe currently employs 7,173 staff (February 2009) and has a total worldwide revenue of US$3.579 billion. Adobe aquired Marcomedia in December 2005, strengthening the company's line up which includes Adobe ColdFusion, Adobe Contribute, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Acrobat Connect (formerly Macromedia Breeze), Adobe Director, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Fireworks, Adobe Flash, Macromedia FlashPaper, Adobe Flex, Macromedia FreeHand, Macromedia HomeSite, Macromedia JRun, Adobe Presenter, Adobe PhotoShop and Macromedia Authorware to name a few.
